I am a little God
of tarnished silver
lying silently in the grass.
A secret thing,
hidden by earth
waiting to be discovered.

These memories are mine:
fingertips caressed me once
rolled me between finger and thumb
and whispered platitudes,
disclosed fears,
searched for answers.

I fell to the ground
with an unheard thud
to lie here for centuries
listening to the wind
feeling the mist from the sea
corrode but not diminish me.

In a gentle breeze
the grass wavers
and with a glint,
I reveal myself to you.
You pick me up, turn me in your hand
and I feel your smile.
